Agriculture Management Information System

Welcome to the Agriculture Information Management System of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Developed as a Joint venture with various partners, the AMIS project is maintained by Department of Agribusiness and Market Development with the core mandate to develop agricultural market infrastructure and improve access to markets.
Our vision is to contribute to the transformation agenda of the agricultural sector into a strong generator of income, employment and wealth creation, with a more efficient, effective, and inclusive policy process.

The Nigerian economy imports 2.48 billon tonnes of Rice annually to augument the local production of 359 Million tonnes annually, as reported by the Nigerian Bereau of Statistics (NBS). 1966

FMARD Created

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) is created and tasked with the responsibility of optimizing agriculture and integrating rural development for the transformation of the Nigerian economy, with a view to attaining food security and positioning Nigeria as a net food exporter for socio-economic development.

1979

Aquired Countrywide Farmers

Agriculture contributed to over 76% of the GDP of Nigeria. Nigeria boosted the Rice Mills of Benue in the Northern Region, the Groundnut pyramid of kano in the Northern Region, and the Cocoa houses of Ibadan in the Western Region

2016

ABM Created

The AgriBusiness and Market Development (ABM) Department of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) is created and tasked with the responsibility of promoting agricultural investment through a one-stop agribusiness resource centre.

2018

AMIS Portal Launched

The AgriBusiness and Market Development (ABM) Department launches the new and improved version of its Agriculture Management Information System; a data collection and analysis system focused on core agricultural comodities.
